Exploding Bag (outdoor activity)

Picture
Here's what you need:
  • 1 plastic bag (with zip-lock)
  • 1 kitchen tissue square
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • Half a cup of vinegar mixed
  • Half a cup of warm water
Steps:
  1. Go outside!
  2. Place the tablespoon of baking soda in the tissue square and fold around out, making a small square.
  3. Set it aside.
  4. Carefully add the vinegar to the plastic bag.
  5. Then add the water. Gently mix the liquids.
  6. Partially seal the bag and drop the 'square' inside.
  7. Working very quickly, seal the rest of the bag and ensure it's tight.
  8. Place it on the floor and watch the bag explode!
  9. Make sure to step back!

 Hoop Glider (outdoor activity)

Picture
Here's what you need:
  • 1 sheet of A4 paper
  • Pencil
  • Coloring pencils
  • Ruler
  • Straw
  • Tape
  • Scissors
Steps:
  1. Using the ruler and pencil, make a 2.5cm thick strip along the long side of the A4 paper.  Cut the strip.
  2. Make another 2.5cm thick strip by 10cm and cut it.
  3. Color your two strips of paper or draw some patterns on them.
  4. Tape the ends of each strip of paper to make 2 circles.
  5. Attach the circles to the 2 ends of the straw. Ensure that the circles are aligned.
  6. This can be done in or out, but it's more fun to do it outside.  Aim your glider with the smaller circle away from you.  Shoot it and watch it glide! (Hint, don't aim too high, aim straight and slightly pointing upwards).
